PureTech 130 EAT8 Aut. Allure HalfLeer Navi Camera Stoel/Stuur-Verwarming.....
Because the 408 has only been built since 2022, not many of them have reached the salvage market yet. That is exactly why this page brings together what our affiliated car dealers, traders and dismantling companies in the Netherlands and abroad are offering. You see in one go what is for sale, instead of going through dozens of used car sites yourself. Filter by year of manufacture, powertrain or type of damage and then contact the seller yourself.
What is listed here depends on what our partners buy in, and that changes daily. Peugeot positioned the 408 between a hatchback and an SUV: a fastback with a high step-in height and a sloping roofline. It is available as a mild hybrid, as a plug-in hybrid and fully electric, and that difference carries through into the value and into the parts you need.
The entry-level version combines a 1.2 three-cylinder petrol engine with a small electric motor in the transmission, together good for 136 hp. At low speed the system lets the car drive short distances on electric power, which saves fuel in town.
This version is the simplest of the three and therefore also the cheapest to repair. The 48-volt battery is compact and sits under the floor, where bodywork damage rarely reaches it.
The plug-in hybrids have a larger battery that you top up at a charge point, with a system output of 180 or 225 hp. They were mostly supplied to business customers, so a relatively large number of them are lease cars.
Because the battery pack sits at the rear under the floor, a rear-end collision deserves extra attention. Ask the seller whether the pack has been checked and whether the charging system still functions normally.
Since 2024 a fully electric version has also been in the range, with a battery of almost 60 kWh and over 200 hp. Those cars are still young and therefore rarely come up as damaged vehicles.
If one does appear, it is generally light collision damage. In that case, always ask to see a current battery reading before you make an offer.
Bear in mind that the E-408 has its own front end and its own cooling. Parts from the hybrid versions will not necessarily fit it.
We do not work with a fixed stock list. You decide for yourself what your Peugeot 408 salvage car must meet, and you then see straight away whether anything suitable is on offer at the moment:
Nothing found today? That may be different next week. Save your search or the link to this page and check back every so often, and you will see it as soon as a partner lists one.
Does a car catch your eye? Open the listing: in it you will find detailed photos, the full damage description and the contact details of the seller.
The shape of this car determines where the costs lie. Four points decide whether it turns out to be a bargain or a liability.
The 408 has a long, low-sloping front end with distinctive daytime running lights that run across the bumper like claws. That looks good, but it also means that even a light collision immediately hits the lighting units.
So ask specifically about the condition of the headlights, the daytime running lights and the radar behind the grille panel. On this model a large part of the repair costs lies there.
Also look at the spoiler beneath the bumper. It sits low and is the first thing to be damaged by a kerb or a parking bollard, and yet it cannot be replaced on its own.
At the rear the roof continues into a large tailgate with a spoiler. Because that part is so large, a new tailgate works out expensive and the painter has to get a large surface to match in colour. That is precisely why an insurer writes these cars off quickly, and that is where your opportunity lies: through our platform, that same tailgate comes from a salvage vehicle at a fraction of the new price.
The label is purely about a calculation: the insurer estimates the repair costs at more than the car’s market value at the time of the loss. Because the 408 is still young but its parts are expensive, that threshold comes into view sooner than you would expect.
Assess for each car whether repair is worthwhile or whether the value lies mainly in the individual parts: the engine, the battery pack, the screens or the complete front end.
Request the VIN so that you can check the damage history, and supplement it with the inspection reports from the insurer or an approved repairer. On a car of this age the manufacturer’s warranty often still applies; find out how much of it remains after repair carried out outside the manufacturer’s dealer network.
Also check that there is no block in the vehicle register. With a complete file, re-registration or export to Belgium, France or Germany is a good deal simpler.
With a salvage vehicle, who sells the car is just as important as the car itself. That is why we admit only approved dealers affiliated with organisations such as the Vereniging Schadevoertuighandel (VSV) and the Stichting Verzekeringsbureau Voertuigcriminaliteit (VbV). A good share of their stock comes directly from insurers, so the provenance is established.
Every Peugeot 408 salvage car on our platform has clear photos and detailed specifications. That way you can see in advance whether it is only superficial bodywork damage or whether something bigger is going on, for example around the battery pack or the front end.
Want to see more? Ask the dealer for photos of the engine bay and the boot floor. They let you establish whether the damage extends into the structural parts.
There is no middleman between you and the dealer, and you notice that in the price and in the pace at which you do business. On top of that, a 408 with damage costs considerably less than a comparable example without. What else we offer you:
From businesses buying for repair or export to private buyers who want a young car at a sharp price: the audience here varies. Do you recognise your situation below?
Most of the time in repairing damage goes into finding the right parts. That is why with us you find not only the car but also Peugeot salvage cars and high-quality used car parts for this specific model.
That way, the vehicle and the parts come from the same network. That saves you searching round the suppliers and, with large parts such as a tailgate or a front bumper, the lead time as well.
Are you buying as a business? Then from a single account you keep track of the incoming stock and of the donor vehicles.
“Every dealer with us is selected in advance and lists their stock on a continuous basis. As a result, the listings on this page renew themselves: what is not here today may be added tomorrow. With a model that has three different powertrains, their explanations are also illuminating, because they tell you exactly what the damage means for repair costs and residual value.”
Doing up a damaged 408 with used parts is economical and sensible at the same time. Reusing an existing car takes far fewer raw materials than building a new one.
With the plug-in and the electric version, that counts for extra, because the production of the battery pack accounts for a large part of the car’s environmental impact. A pack that is still good therefore belongs in another vehicle rather than on the scrap heap. We are happy to contribute to that.
Is your question about one particular Peugeot 408 with us, for example about the damage history, the condition of the battery pack or the remaining manufacturer’s warranty? Then put that question to the dealer offering the car; the dealer has the details.
Their telephone number and email address are in the listing.
Do you have a question that goes beyond a single car and concerns buying a salvage car with us? Then first go through our frequently asked questions from users. If your answer is not there, feel free to email us; you will find our details on the customer service page.
No. Our partners supply the stock and it changes from day to day. Because the model has only been built since 2022, the number of damaged vehicles is also still limited. Save your search or this page and come back to it regularly.
That depends on where the damage is. The battery pack sits at the rear under the floor and almost always stays intact in front or side collisions. If the car has been hit from behind, have the pack checked by an approved repairer first.
It means that, in the insurer’s view, the cost of repair comes out above the car’s current value. With the 408, those costs lie mainly in the lighting, the sensors and the large tailgate. That says nothing about the technical condition of the car.
The 408 shares its mechanicals with the 308 and with other models on the same platform, so the supply for those is ample. For model-specific parts such as the front bumper, the lighting and the tailgate, a salvage vehicle from our stock is, most of the time, the fastest route to the right part.
You can, if the export documentation and the damage records are complete. For Belgium, France or Germany you need the full registration document for re-registration to go smoothly. Also check in advance that no block has been placed on the car.
No. As a platform we bring supply and demand together; the sale rests with our partner. You therefore make arrangements about warranty with the dealer who has the car.
